Carly came to me with the idea of taking headshots and I was immediately hooked. The girl is not your average “safe” actor and I wanted something that really embodied her spunky look and free-spirit. It seemed like there was no better choice then to do them at Coney Island.

For those of you who haven’t been to Coney Island, the place feels like it’s straight out of the 80’s, from the food they serve to the people working there, and not to mention the rickety rides spinning around on autopilot. We went on a cloudy, breezy day to avoid the crowds and it felt like we had the park to ourselves. My 8-year-old self came out in me along with a refreshing burst of creativity. Maybe I was drunk on cotton candy or high off the Atlantic Ocean but whatever it was, it felt great. I was in my element – taking pictures of someone who had complete trust in me with inspiring surroundings and not to mention that oh-so perfect overcast light.

Take a second for them to load and tell me you don’t want to plan a summer trip to an amusement park after flipping through these…

P.S – Carly, you absolutely rocked.

Consistently amazing work Alisha! Love both the location and your use of natural light. If you don't mind my asking, what lens(es) were the photo shot with? I look forward to your future work.
